Terms of use
Last updated: October 3, 2026
Draft. This document has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer and will change before Altopi opens for registration.
1. About these terms
These terms apply to your use of altopi.com (“Altopi”). By using the site you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
The legal name and address of the operator of Altopi will be added here before registration opens.
2. What Altopi is
Altopi lets people ask for a second opinion on a health concern, and lets health care professionals give one.
Altopi is not a health care provider. It does not diagnose, treat or prescribe, and it does not replace your own doctor.
3. Not for emergencies
Do not use Altopi in an emergency. If you need urgent care, call your local emergency number.
4. Opinions are information, not instructions
An opinion you receive is one professional’s view, based only on what you shared. It may come from a professional in another country, who may not be licensed where you live.
Check with your local doctor or health care provider before acting on an opinion, and to make sure it fits the regulations where you live. Decisions about your health remain yours and your local provider’s.
5. Accounts
There are two kinds of accounts: one for people seeking a second opinion and one for health care professionals. Registration is not open yet.
- You must give accurate information when you register.
- You are responsible for keeping your login details secret and for what happens under your account.
- You must be old enough to enter into an agreement where you live, or have a parent or guardian do so for you.
6. Health care professionals
If you register as a professional, you agree that:
- the licence details you provide are true, current and yours;
- Altopi may review those details by hand and may approve, refuse or remove your account;
- you are responsible for following the professional rules and laws that apply to you, including any limits on giving opinions to people in other regions;
- you will keep what you learn from people’s concerns confidential.
7. Your content and sharing
What you write on Altopi stays yours. Your profile and concerns are private by default.
A concern is shown publicly only if you explicitly choose to share it. You can make a shared concern private again, but copies others made while it was public cannot be recalled.
You give Altopi permission to store and display your content as needed to run the service in line with your choices.
8. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- pretend to be someone else or a professional you are not;
- post another person’s health information without their permission;
- use Altopi to harass, mislead or harm anyone;
- try to access accounts or data that are not yours, or interfere with how the site works.
9. Payments
Pricing has not been announced. When payments are introduced they will be processed by Stripe, including Apple Pay. These terms will be updated with prices, refunds and cancellation before any charge is made.
10. Privacy
How Altopi handles personal information is described in the Privacy policy.
11. Accessibility
Altopi aims to meet the WCAG 2.1 Level AA accessibility standard. If part of the site does not work for you, please tell us so it can be fixed.
12. Ending or suspending accounts
You can stop using Altopi at any time. Altopi may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts others at risk.
13. Disclaimers and liability
Altopi is provided as it is, without promises that it will always be available or free of errors. To the extent the law allows, Altopi is not responsible for decisions you make based on an opinion, or for the conduct of other users.
Nothing in these terms removes rights you have under the law where you live. The exact wording of this section will be set with legal advice.
14. Governing law
The law that governs these terms, and where disputes are handled, will be stated here before registration opens.
15. Changes and contact
These terms may change as Altopi develops. The date at the top shows the latest version.
Contact details will be published here before registration opens.
