What is Altopi?

Altopi is a place to ask for a second opinion on a health concern. You describe your concern, and a health care professional gives you their view.

Who gives the opinions?

Health care professionals who have registered with Altopi. Each professional's licence details are reviewed by hand before they are allowed to give opinions.

Is my information private?

Yes. Your profile and your concerns are private by default. Nothing is shown publicly unless you explicitly choose to share it.

Can I share my concern publicly?

Only if you choose to. Sharing is off by default, and you can make a shared concern private again.

Where is Altopi available?

People and health care professionals can register from anywhere in the world.

Does an opinion from Altopi replace my own doctor?

No. An opinion may come from a professional in another country. Check with your local doctor or health care provider before acting on it, and to make sure it fits the regulations where you live.

Can I use Altopi in an emergency?

No. Altopi is not for emergencies. If you need urgent care, call your local emergency number.

How much does it cost, and how do I pay?

Pricing has not been announced yet. Payments will be handled through Stripe or Apple Pay.

When can I register?

Registration is not open yet. This page will be updated when it is.

Is Altopi accessible?

Altopi is built to meet the WCAG 2.1 Level AA accessibility standard. It works with a keyboard and with screen readers. If something does not work for you, please tell us once contact details are published.

Guide for people seeking a second opinion

  1. Register. Create an account as a person seeking a second opinion.
  2. Log in. Use the login for people, not the one for professionals.
  3. Describe your concern. Say what it is about and give the details you want an opinion on.
  4. Choose whether to share. Leave sharing off to keep the concern private. Private concerns are seen only by you and by approved professionals, who see the concern without your name.
  5. Read the opinion. When a professional replies, their opinion appears under your concern.
  6. Check locally. Talk to your local doctor or provider before acting on an opinion.

Guide for health care professionals

  3. Log in. Use the login for professionals.
  4. Read concerns. Once approved, you see concerns waiting for an opinion. People's names are hidden.
  5. Give your opinion. Write your view under the concern. It is shown to the person with a reminder to check with their local provider.
